Introduction To Music Theory
and Harmony
 
The objective of this book is to provide a basic foundation and understanding of music theory and harmony for the beginning student of general music, Piano, guitar bass guitar or mallet student.  Or the drum student who wants to learn more about what’s happening musically on the other side of the cymbals. This book will provide the basics of the various clef signs used in music, scale degree names and numbers, major, minor and blues scales as well as other modes and scales.  It will also cover key signatures as well as several types of chords and how they are constructed.  Every section builds off the information in the previous section and each section has a homework assignment associated with it.  It is advised that after reading a section the homework assignment referenced at the end of the chapter should completed and checked to make sure the student has a complete understanding of the material just covered before going on to the next section.
